Virginia John Hewitt, of Lafayette, Louisiana, peacefully transitioned from this life surrounded by the love of family and the grace of God. She was born to the late Paul John and Beatrice Alexander, who instilled in her the values of faith, perseverance, and love that she carried throughout her life. Virginia was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone she encountered. She was known for her caring spirit, strong will, and joyful laughter. Her home was always open to others, and she welcomed everyone with kindness and love.
Virginia dedicated many years of service through her work. She was employed with Aldine School District, Northeast Medical Center, and later with Cy-Fair School District, where she faithfully worked as a custodian for over 20 years before retiring. Her strong work ethic and dedication left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside her. Faith was an important part of Virginia’s life. She was raised in the Catholic faith and later began attending church at Willowpark. She eventually became a member of Prayer Time Community Church, where she served faithfully and remained a devoted member until her health no longer allowed her to attend.
Virginia was a loving and proud mother to her children: Reginald Jones, Cedric Jones, and Candice Hudson. She cherished her grandchildren: Jamekia Turner, Kayelyn Jones, Ja'qualen Gutierrez, Cedric Jones, Larry Porche Jones, Aniyah Daniels, Jazziah Mayes, and Skailee Mayes, along with her beloved great-grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for her cherished pet, Rosie John. She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings: Jesse John (California), Calvin John (Breaux Bridge, Louisiana), Elnora Arceneaux (Houston, Texas), Gloria (Lester) Landry, and Verlie John, along with a host of extended familymembers, friends, and loved ones who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Paul John and Beatrice Alexander; her beloved husband, Anthony Hewitt; her sister, Joyce Mae Jones; and her brothers, Joseph Johns and Claton John.
