Cynthia Gail Wilkerson

October 16, 1955 — April 18, 2025

Cynthia, an adored wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 18, 2025, in Humble, Texas, at the age of 69.

The middle child of five, Cynthia Gail was born on October 16, 1955 in Houston, Texas to Annie Jean and Ernest James Stephens. While attending Phillis Wheatley High School in Houston’s Fifth Ward, Cynthia, was on a class trip in San Antonio, Texas where she would first meet a younger Michael Wilkerson from Gregory Lincoln High School in Houston’s Fourth Ward. While swimming, Michael looked up at Cynthia as she walked near the edge of the pool, tapped his friend on the shoulder and said, “I’mma marry that girl one day!”

As fate would have it, while “shooting hooky” back in Houston, young Michael went to a “picture show” and smoking a cigar on the front row with a friend was the beautiful girl he met in San Antonio. Cynthia would inevitably start dating Michael, graduate from Phillis Wheatley High School and go on to attend Prairie View A&M for nursing.

Cynthia married Michael Wilkerson on October 29, 1977, had their first child in 1980, started her career at Brown & Root in 1985, and had their second child in 1988. In 2015, after dedicating 30 years to the corporate life, she retired to enjoy the rest of life.

As an unwavering child of God, Cynthia took pride in caring and doing for anyone and everyone, especially her grandkids, who she loved dearly. Cynthia will always be remembered for her kind, generous, and giving soul.

Cynthia was proceeded in death by her parents Ernest James and Annie Jean Stephens. Cynthia is survived by her husband, Michael; children Michael Jr (Jezenya), Mitchell (Celesta); grandchildren, Zoe, Jayden, Zya, Jaxon, and Zen; siblings, Linda Ellis, Anthony Stephens (Ann), Larry Stephens, and Vience Stephens (Pam).

The family would like to thank you all for your support, your time, visits, words of encouragement, cards, flowers, love, and especially your prayers.
