With hearts heavy with sorrow and love beyond measure, we share the passing of Ashton Martin LaVan. A bright, beautiful soul who left this world far too soon at just 17 years old.
He was the cherished baby boy to LaShonda Evans LaVan and Anthony LaVan. Born on March 11, 2008 weighing just 1 pound 3 ounces. Ashton entered the world as a miracle, a fighter from the very beginning. And he never stopped fighting.
Before he could even walk, he was carrying a football around the house. By age three, he was sitting next to his dad, glued to the screen, watching football games in his cowboy boots.
As soon as Ashton was able to play, it was clear football was in his blood. His passion and drive were unmatched. He was quick on his feet, fearless in the game, and had a natural speed that set him apart. He carried that same energy into track, where he shined just as brightly. His love for sports wasn’t just a hobby it was a passion that defined him. A gifted athlete, Ashton was a force. He played with heart, and no one could doubt his passion.
Outside of sports, Ashton found joy in caring for his horse and riding his ATV with family and friends.
Always smiling, he carried a warmth that drew people in, even in his quiet moments.
Losing his beloved mother left a deep ache in his heart, and though he struggled to heal, he carried her memory with grace and strength. Through the hardest times, he leaned on his father, Anthony, who stood by his side, his biggest fan and strongest support. Their bond was unbreakable, built on love, support, and shared dreams.
His love for his family was deep and unwavering. He was more than a son, a brother, or a teammate he was a light.
He is now reunited with his mother, LaShonda Evans, Grandmother-Elmira LaVan, Grandmother Sharon Ann Evans , Aunt Vanessa LaVan, Uncle-Cedrick Evans and is survived by Grandad, Alfred (Bubba) LaVan, Father Anthony LaVan, eight devoted older siblings, nieces, nephews and countless cousins, extended family, teammates, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Rest easy, baby boy. You are loved more than words can express, and you will never be forgotten.
"Those we love never truly leave us there are things that death cannot touch."
Jack Thorne
Message of Remembrance: We will remember Ashton not just for how fast he could run, how hard he could play, or his unforgettable smile but for how deeply he loved, and how deeply he was loved.
Run free now, Ashton fast as ever. The field is yours now wide open, with your football in hand, wind at your back and your mom in the stands. Your beautiful soul will live in our hearts forever.
